NATIONAL CHURCH HELPS OVER 1,100 IN AUGUSTA COMMUNITY IMPACTED BY HURRICANE HELENE
(OCTOBER 15, 2024) From October 1st to October 13th, 1,115 individuals from 428 different families in the greater Augusta, Georgia area received donations from the national congregations of The United House of Prayer for All People® to aide with disaster relief following the impact of Hurricane Helene. There are five United House of Prayer congregations in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). Those congregations received the donations and made the distribution to their membership and local community members. The donations originated from the national network of 137 United House of Prayer congregations in nearly 30 different states and Washington, D.C. Bishop A.D. Cunningham, national head of the Christian organization, directly oversaw the collection and distribution as well as encouraged the donations.
“I was actually in Augusta, Georgia when Hurricane Helene’s impact was felt,” said Bishop A.D. Cunningham. “I could not rest until I did something to make sure those in need had relief. I am so proud that our national membership stepped forward for their brothers and sisters of the Augusta-area. I am reminded of the words of our Lord Jesus: ‘Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.’”
As early as Tuesday, October 1, The United House of Prayer began making distribution of non-perishable items at its largest congregation in the state of Georgia, the Augusta Motherhouse (1269 Wrightsboro Road). On that day, 227 households and 588 individuals received relief. Eventually, the relief effort spread to include distribution from congregations at the following locations:
612 Fist Street, Augusta, GA
1230 Nellieville Road, Augusta, GA
3057 Ellignton Ariline Rpad, Dearing, GA
160 Keener Drive, Harlem, GA
