LOCAL PASTOR, TURNED NATIONAL LEADER, HONORED WITH STREET NAMING

(MARCH 31, 2024)

On Wednesday, April 3 at 12:00 noon, Mayor Garnett. L. Johnson of Augusta, Georgia, members of the Augusta-Richmond County Commission, and The United House of Prayer for All People will convene at 1269 Wrightsboro Road for a street renaming for Bishop C.M. Bailey. All are welcome to attend this ceremony.

“Augusta is where Bishop Bailey mastered the ministry, and now it is a place which will bear his name,” said Bishop A.D. Cunningham, the successor leader of the House of Prayer nationwide following Bishop Bailey’s passing in August 2023.

“As a pastor, he was nothing short of excellent in inspiring members of the Augusta community to walk closer with God. However, during the fifteen years as the leader of The United House of Prayer, Bishop Bailey single-handedly began an urban renewal on Wrightsboro Road—and he did it with no bank financing. That is just one reason why, with the help of Mayor Johnson, we will dedicate ‘Bishop C.M. Bailey Way’ in his honor,” continued Bishop Cunningham.

Community leaders scheduled to make remarks for the occasion include:

The Honorable Garnett L. Johnson, Mayor, Augusta, GA

The Honorable Francine Scott, District 9 Commissioner, Augusta, GA
