STREET RENAMING CEREMONY HONORS NATIONAL LEADER WITH LOCAL ROOTS

(MARCH 31, 2024)

On Tuesday, April 2 at 12:30 pm, Mayor Van R. Johnson, II of Savannah, Georgia, members of the Savannah City Council, and The United House of Prayer for All People will convene at 1805 Ogeechee Road for a street renaming, or honorary designation, for Bishop C.M. Bailey. All are welcome to attend this ceremony.

“Bishop Bailey was a national figure, but he had a local impact!” said Bishop A.D. Cunningham, the successor leader of the House of Prayer nationwide following Bishop Bailey’s passing in August 2023.

“What Bishop Bailey meant to countless many, who were moved by his ministry to have a closer walk with God through our Lord Jesus, is the reason why Mayor Johnson and the members of the City Council have worked together in honoring him and naming a portion of Ogeechee Road, where The United House of Prayer for All People is located, ‘Bishop C.M. Bailey Way,’” continued Bishop Cunningham.

Community leaders scheduled to make remarks for the occasion include:

The Honorable Van R. Johnson, II, Mayor, Savannah, GA

The Honorable Bernetta B. Lanier, District 1 Alderwoman, Savannah, GA

Mr. Joseph A. Melder, City Manager, Savannah, GA
